It's already May!!
With the first few shows under our belt, we are now looking toward Charity
Fair. We had a successful Del Mar with Delaney Weed and Rachel Miller both
winning on their Jr Exb horses, 3 "OC" sired Jr horses going
undefeated in their park and pleasure classes, and Elaine Olsen
successfully debuting with her Boxford's Bravura to a great win in the
Open Park Harness Champ. as well as 2 wins with her Stonecroft Notorious!
Next up was the UPHA Chapter 1 show in Woodside, Ca. What a great show
that demonstrated the cooperative spirit and fun that showing should be
about! With parties, bbq's, great management, a beautiful facility, and
near perfect weather this was just a great show! With competitive classes
being the ultimate goal, some were combined beforehand to provide for
numbers and depth...what competition is all about! We had a good week
there with our horses as well. Stonecroft Notorious was shown by Gerry and
was a STAR in the pleasure driving, Jessica and Genevieve Carlino debuted
with 2 of the wonderful Silver Creek mares and both of them won, I rode
Lorraine Bumb's lovely GLB Perfect Harmony to a win in a very competitive
5 horse qualifier and then to the win in the Open English Pleasure Champ.,
Debbie Keough was reserve in a competitive Park saddle champ., and
Dreammaster J'st Outrajus made a saddle debut that made us proud! The
trophies were wonderful, beautiful flowers adorned all of the winners, and
a supportive group of spectators showed their appreciation.
On the home
front, we have 3 of our expected 4 foals already born. First Futurity Ice
Dancer had a black filly by Grandiose, next DRF French Riviera had a
beautiful filly by "OC", and just the other day Dreammaster Rare
Affaire showed us that she was born to be a mom by breezing through her
first birthing experience and haveing a healthy, handsome colt by
"OC" as well. Last in line is Noblesse, who never gives us
anything we don't love, in a few more weeks.
As we have
for the past 4 summers, we have a William Woods student here for the
summer. Her name is Stacey...handy, huh?:) She's doing a very good job of
jumping in and helping out and getting to know everyone. We hope she
learns alot in her time here.
With Pomona
in just 10 days, we're getting 1/2 dozen ready to show there and then on
to Charity Fair!
Other great
news: Etosha Moh graduated from Stevens college 2 weeks ago and is now
preparing to enter the job force in Chicago for a few months before making
the brave and exciting move to London! Congratulations...we'll miss you:)
This is a month of engagements as first Genevieve Carlino announced her
engagement just before Woodside and last week Gerry's niece Jessica became
engaged to her boyfriend Devon...we wish them all the best of luck!
Hope to see
you all at Charity Fair!
